Foley's Take 11

🏒 Ice, Ice Baby. Alright stop, collaborate and listen. The PWHL semifinals are back with a brand new edition. (Sorry, I had to.) Tonight Ottawa takes on Boston (7 p.m., PWHL Youtube) and the story is all about the goaltenders. It's Gwyneth Phillips vs Aerin Frankel, the two goalies who combined to bring home Olympic gold, now facing off against each other. The other semi begins on Saturday, with Montreal Victoire taking on Minnesota Frost (2 p.m. ET, PWHL Youtube). The Frost are stacked, with Kelly Pannek, Taylor Heise and Britta Curl-Salanmé, all sitting at the top of the leaderboard in points, goals, and assists. But Montréal has something Minnesota doesn't: Marie-Philip Poulin. Captain Clutch. The GOAT. It's time for her to get out the cape.

⚽️ Here’s your soccer hot tip: watch as much NWSL as you can in May, because the league goes dark in June due to the Men's World Cup. Ugh, men. All 16 teams are in action this weekend, so let's get into it. San Diego and Portland are sitting at the top of the table and looking good. I was at ACFC vs Portland on Sunday and Sophie Smith's goal was epic (unfortunately). For the first time ever, the two expansion sides go head to head: Boston Legacy vs Denver Summit, with Boston looking for its first win. And keep an eye on Washington Spirit vs. Orlando. The Spirit had a rocky start to the season but have found their form recently, which is bad news for the rest of the league. Go to the NWSL website and click the “How to Watch” tab for game time/channel.

🏀 It was the longest, most excruciating offseason in WNBA history, but the players finally got the bag. If you can't wait until opening night (May 8th), then tune in for the preseason matchups. The Dallas Wings play the Indiana Fever tonight, April 30th at 7 p.m. ET, with Azzi and Paige taking on Caitlin. Over the weekend, get a look at both expansion teams. Toronto Tempo take on the Lynx Friday at 8 p.m. ET. Then on Sunday, Portland Fire face the LA Sparks at 7pm ET. You can stream every preseason game for free on WNBA League Pass. And if you're thinking about getting it for the full season, I highly recommend it. It's only $40 for the year with new features like the option of calling a player if they didn't have a good game. Actually, that's still being beta tested. Enjoy the hoops!
