🎾 Is it the heat? Is it the clay? Is it the croissants? Whatever the reason, the top seeds have been dropping at warp speed during this year's French Open. Heading into Thursday's semifinals, there's only one player in the top ten still standing. No. 8 Mirra Andreeva takes on No. 15 Marta Kostyuk, and on the other side No. 25 Diana Shnaider faces Maja Chwalinska, a 24-year-old Polish qualifier ranked No. 114 who came through three qualifying rounds and has been the Cinderella story of the tournament. Catch the semis Thursday June 4th and the final Saturday June 6th, TNT and HBO Max. Whoever takes the crown, better not get too comfortable. Because guess who's back in the rearview mirror...SERENA! All hail the queen!
🏌🏻‍♀️The US Women's Open, the second major of the year, runs Thursday June 4th through Sunday June 7th at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, and yes, I will be there in person this weekend for my very first LPGA event. It’s also Pride weekend in LA so this felt on point. World No. 1 Nelly Korda is the favorite and honestly it's hard to argue. She's already won a major this year and is absolutely rolling. But the story I can't stop thinking about is Michelle Wie West, who came out of retirement to compete in a tournament she won back in 2014. Wie West back on the course. Serena back on the court. Someone wake me up. Watch on USA Network, NBC and Peacock.
⚽️ Triple espresso or a cafezinho? How about both! The USWNT heads to Brazil for two friendlies, with Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson and Sophia Wilson (triple espresso) back on the same roster for the first time since winning Olympic gold. And for the third camp in a row, Emma Hayes is going with the regulars, calling up zero uncapped players. These matches might be called "friendlies" but with our all-stars against Brazil's Marta, Kerolin and Gutierres, there's nothing friendly going on. The action kicks off on Saturday June 6th in São Paulo on TBS and Peacock, followed by June 9th in Fortaleza on TNT and Peacock. Stay caffeinated my friends.
