🥎 It ain't over till it's over but this weekend, it's over. The AUSL has its final three games of the All-Star Cup with an individual champion to be crowned. The three teams are named for this week's captains: Team Klingler, Team Kilfoyl and Team Flippen. Here are some fun facts: Baylee Klingler ran a half marathon this offseason, loves watching makeup videos and wants to be a sports broadcaster. Lexi Kilfoyl was a three-sport athlete in high school, and thankfully she picked softball, since the 6-foot-2 pitcher became the No. 1 overall pick in the inaugural AUSL Draft. Hannah Flippen works as a neuro-technician in Tucson in the off-season and her mom, Mary Lou, was an All-American and national champion at Utah State. Who’s taking the crown? Games run Friday-Sunday, Aug. 28-30, at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont. Catch it on CBS Sports Network, ESPN platforms and MLB Network.
🏀 It's time to mainline all the WNBA games this weekend, because the league goes dark for two weeks for the FIBA World Cup. Gasp! All your favorite teams are in action, but here are my two picks. Thursday, Golden State heads to New York to take on the Liberty. The Valks look like a team built for a deep playoff run, and the Liberty just got Leonie Fiebich back from a foot injury, a real boost heading into the stretch. Then on Sunday, Minnesota travels to Atlanta, and who doesn't want to see Phee battle Reese on the boards while all of ATL tries to slow down Olivia “The Show” Miles. The full slate streams on WNBA League Pass, but check HERE for more info on how to watch. Get in on the action before everybody heads off to Berlin!
⚽️ Erling Haaland traded the flow for a fresh cut, but don't worry, the NWSL has got plenty of hair-raising storylines happening this weekend. See what I did there? The action kicks off on Friday (Aug 28) when Gotham hosts Portland, a top-of-the-table clash between the league's No. 1 team and the No. 3 team. Saturday (Aug 29), Kansas City welcomes North Carolina, two teams separated by a single game in the standings, and it's a showdown of two of the league's hottest players. NC's Ashley Sanchez leads the NWSL in scoring, while KC's Croix Bethune is tied for the league lead in assists and having an incredible year. And Sunday (Aug 30), Washington hosts Bay FC, which means another chance to watch Trinity Rodman do Trinity Rodman things. Bay FC just snapped a five-game winless streak with a stunner over Houston last weekend. Can they carry that momentum into D.C.? Click on the NWSL’s How to Watch Page for more info.
