Foley's Take 23

🏀 It's All-Star weekend in Chicago baby! It's time for the crown jewel of the WNBA calendar: cue the parties, panels, networking and oh, I almost forgot, the hoops! Skills Night hits Wintrust Arena on Friday with the 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge, then on Saturday the main event tips off at the United Center. Here's the best part: WNBA legends Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon drafted this year's teams, heating up an already bitter rivalry. For the newbies, Cooper's Houston Comets beat T-Spoon's New York Liberty three times in the Finals starting in the league’s inaugural season. Revenge is best served on the court, so I hope Spoon’s squad (I'm looking at you A'Ja & Caitlin) takes this personally, goes all out and brings home that championship. Time of our lives!

🥎 What’s better than softball? HIGH STAKES SOFTBALL.The AUSL playoffs are here and it’s do-or-die for either the Chicago Bandits or Portland Cascade who play a single-elimination game on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET. It’s not the Hunger Games, but it’s close. Cascade making it this far is wild on its own, they're a first-year expansion franchise and already fighting for a title (hello Megan Grant). The winner gets Utah, who locked up the No. 1 seed in the regular season with incredible pitching performances from Montana Fouts, Megan Faraimo and Georgina Corrick. The trio put up the best team ERA in the league this season. The best-of-three championship series kicks off Saturday, July 25th at 1 p.m. ET on ABC, Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN, and if necessary, Game 3 is Monday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2. May the odds be ever in your favor.

âšľ Baseball returns to the land of the Peaches! The Women's Baseball World Cup group stage kicked off this week in Rockford, Ill., the opening round of a two-year road to the world title. USA hosts five international challengers, Korea, Mexico, Australia, Canada and Hong Kong, with the top three finishers advancing straight to next year's Finals. Two of Team USA's biggest stars, Kelsie Whitmore and Kylee Lahners, are worth watching closely all week. They'll both suit up down the road in Springfield next week when the WPBL kicks off its inaugural season, with Whitmore going No. 1 overall and Lahners going No. 3. Every USA game is at 8 p.m. ET, streaming nationally on GameTime.Sport.
