🏒 It's a Canada vs. Canada showdown, and I'm not talking about how Montreal was the center of Canadian power and commerce until Ottawa was chosen as the capital in 1857. I'm talking about the PWHL Walter Cup Finals! The rivalry between these two cities runs deep, and now it's playing out on ice. Ottawa bounced Montreal in last year's playoffs, and now the Victoire are back — this time for the cup. And maybe the capital. Game 1 is Thursday, May 14 at 7 p.m. ET, Game 2 is Saturday, May 16 at 2 p.m. ET. You can watch the Finals for free on ION or the PWHL YouTube channel. Amusez-vous!
🎾 From Rome, with love. The Italian Open concludes this week and it’s got all the action of a Bond film, except with fierce leading ladies who can string a racket and a sentence together. Coco Gauff punched her ticket to the semis with a gritty three-set win over Mirra Andreeva and will face the feel-good story of the tournament in Sorana Cirstea, the 36-year-old Romanian who has been on an absolute tear, knocking out top seed Sabalenka along the way to her first Rome semifinal. On the other side of the bracket, clay court specialist Swiatek takes on Svitolina. This is the premiere warm up tournament to the French Open so the stakes are high. Today’s semifinals and Saturday’s final are both on the Tennis Channel. Divertiti!
⚽️ We’re two months into the NWSL season and we’re really getting a feel for each team. Let’s dig in. Barbra Banda is doing what Barbra Banda does — score. The Orlando Pride striker leads the league with 8 goals and is single-handedly keeping the defending champions in the conversation. In Kansas City, Temwa Chawinga is back, baby. The two-time MVP and Golden Boot winner announced her return with a hat trick, the first in KC Current history. Watch your back, Banda. The Washington Spirit are on a five-game winning streak with Trinity Rodman scoring in three straight. And the Utah Royals, the feel-good story of the league, are sitting third in the standings. Consider this your official binge warning, with only three weeks left before the league goes dark for a month. Here's how to watch. Enjoy!
