š¾ A new number one? Bragging rights and momentum going into the last major? It's all on the table at the Cincinnati Open. The last week of action is here and all the heavy-hitters are still in it. Swiatek is trying to defend her title, with the rest of the blood-thirsty players in her rear-view mirror. (Okay it's not that dramatic but the stakes are high!) There's also a possible changing of the guard on the line. Rybakina can overtake Sabalenka for the WTA's No. 1 ranking this week if she wins the title and Sabalenka doesn't reach the final. Quarterfinals run Thursday and Friday (August 20-21), semifinals are Saturday (Aug. 22), and the final hits Sunday (Aug. 23). Watch it all on Tennis Channel.
ā³ Okay, golf nerds, buckle up. The CPKC Women's Open is this week and here's the skinny: Royal Mayfair Golf Club sits along the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton and it's hosting Canada's National Women's Open for the first time since 2013. That's the same year when a 15-year-old amateur named Lydia Ko won, putting the golf world on notice. She's back this week with a much bigger resume (Hall of Fame). So is Brooke Henderson, the hometown hero defending her title and Nelly Korda, who's closing in on the all-time career money record. Oh, and this also happens to be the last event before the U.S. Solheim Cup roster is finalized, so a few careers get decided this week too. No big deal. Catch it all Thursday through Sunday (Aug. 20-23) on Golf Channel.
šā½ College sports are back! And volleyball is coming in HOT! The AVCA First Serve returns to Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum (home of the Bucks) for four straight days of ranked doubleheaders, and this year's field includes all four 2025 national semifinalists for the first time. Friday kicks off with a pair of NCAA Tournament rematches, No. 8 Texas A&M vs. No. 7 Louisville and No. 6 Wisconsin vs. No. 3 Kentucky, with matches spread across ESPN and FOX networks. Then on Sunday, women's soccer gives us a top-10 showdown with No. 8 North Carolina hosting No. 7 Michigan State at 1 p.m. ET on ACC Network. Nets up, cleats on. Canāt lose.
